Bryony, Drake and Dante finally arrive at Champ Le Sims in France! They will be staying there for a week to try and divert Taylor Lacken away from Midnight Hollow and continue onwards to other places.
“Well then, this…. is where we will be staying? Drake could you not get one of those lovely little cute cottage houses across the river? They look beautiful.”
“No Bryony, they were too expensive and we are only here for a week, those are for people who are on extended stays, not people like us, here for a holiday. We are living here for a week.”
Bryony can’t help but glance down at the dirty walls and then see the perfect green bushes and blue sky. Dirty buildings but beautiful landscaping, this place is confusing.
They all head indoors and into their rooms to unpack their few belongings.

“Well, will we be sleeping here then Drake? Dante can sleep in the next room.”
“No Bryony, I’m sleeping here, I want you and Dante to sleep in the next room. I can’t risk anything happening to you alone or him alone. If the worst comes to the worst you have each other and I’ll fight anyone off. Ok?”
“But we are here to be safe Drake! Not to worry about a murderer coming to kill me and my son and fight with my husband!”
“Bryony, calm down please, nothing will happen to us here, we are safe here, I heard this morning before we left Midnight Hollow that Taylor was on his way there. He’s losing hope of finding us because he can’t find us anywhere. He won’t be able to track us down.”
“Fine, I’ll sleep in the other room with Dante. He might have nightmares.”
They hug and Drake goes to talk to Dante.
“Dante! Where are you?”
“I’m down here Dad! I want to eat something!”
“No, stay there Dante, don’t run away! I have to talk to you!”
“Ok, I’m waiting!”
“Dante boy, don’t go running off places, stay with either me or your mother, or us both. Don’t go anywhere yourself, do you hear me?”
“Yes dad, I hear you I’m not deaf, don’t we hear well because we’re vampires?”
“I think so, yes, whatever, that doesn’t matter. You’ll be sleeping in a bed with your mother and I’ll be just in the next room ok?”
“Why do I have to sleep with mum? I have Vampy Bear to sleep with!”
“W are here to get away from a bad person. Bryony’s mother sent out someone to try and catch us, to take Bryony back to her home town. He was just here but just as we arrived here, the bad person arrived at Midnight Hollow. Eva is with a friend and that lady that you met the morning we were leaving is staying in our house for the week. When we get back home, everything will be as usual and nothing will have changed, you just had a holiday ok? Don’t go speaking it to strange people though ok?”
“Ok…. I’ll sleep with mum then. Can I eat now?”
“Yes, but here, eat this, we’re vampires remember?”
Drake gives Dante some plasma fruit to eat and that satisfies his needs.

Drake decides to go out and see if they can buy some souvenirs to take home so they head out in the car to the general store!
They decide to keep their suit cases in the back of the car because they decide not to trust them lying in the room at the base camp. They will keep all their belongings in the car and only take a bag with whatever they need for that day/night at base camp.
When they arrive at the general store Dante can’t help but imagine all the fun adventures they could have in a tent he sees!
Drake walks up behind him.
“What’s that you’re looking at Dante?”
“A tent, can we buy a tent dad? I want to go camping!”
“Well… How much is it?”
“Dad we’re celebrities! Are we not rich? Can we go camping?”
“Sure thing buddy, I’ll buy the tent.”
“Yes! Dad you’re the best! Where can we go camping? Under the Eiffel Tower? Please dad! That’ll be awesome!”
“Dante boy, calm down little one, we’re not in Champ de Mars, we’re in Champ le sims, we’re too far away but we could pitch our tents at a campground somewhere and go sail by the river, you can snorkel if you like, not the ideal place, a river but you could swim around and skip some stones on the river.”
So that’s what they did, they went to a camping ground and set up their tent! By the time their tent was ready it was dark so they all huddled in and went to sleep.

Very early in the morning Bryony was woken up by a rustling sound in the bushes.
“Drake! Get up! He’s here! Taylor! He’s here! He’s in the bushes!”
“What? No he can’t be! I’m going out to check.”
Drake went out to check but there was noody there.
“Bryony there’s no one there, what’s the matter with you?”
“Nevermind, I think it was just a dream, a bad one, I could see him somehow through the tent like I was looking through a tent and just a dark shadow was standing there, his eyes glowed then he dashed back into the bushes and that’s when I woke up.”
“You scared me there Bryony! Look, let’s go out to the river, I phoned a friend who lives just in that house, he sleeps during the day, I’ve known him for years, that’s why I came here Bryony, because he’s always looked out for my family, close friends of my parents, we used to come to France all the time for holidays. My mum and dad used to go out early morning at sunrise to the river and they sailed down and watched the glowing lights of the city. I want to take you there, like what my parents did, Dante will be safe.”
They stepped out and Drake shook hands with a man and hugged him then pointed in Dante’s direction. The man walked over and unfolded a chair in front of the tent and sat down to guard the tent. Bryony and Drake walked off to the river and set sail.
“Oh Drake, it’s absolutely beautiful out here!”
“Are you not cold? I’m sorry I shoved you in the river, just as well you had your bikini underneath your clothes, you look good in a bikini.”
Bryony giggled and hit Drake in a joking manner. Drake stopped rowing and went and sat next to Bryony. It was a beautiful time with the waves softly brushing against the side of the boat.

As it got lighter and the lights of the city turned off Bryony and Drake got off the boat. Bryony started running and threw up right on the grassy hill.
She magically changed into her outerwear and Drake ran up behind her.
“Bryony’s what’s wrong? Don’t tell me you’re pregnant again! We haven’t even, is it another man?”
“Sea sick!” spluttered Bryony in between throwing up.
“Maybe it’s best we go back to base camp then, you get a taxi and I’ll pick up Dante and pack up the tent.”

They stayed at base camp for the remaining nights but went out to several places around France. On their last day, when Dante was out at a new friends house to say goodbye, things heated up a little.
“This was a brilliant holiday Drake, even if it was to get away from someone who wants to kill me.”
“I won’t let anyone kill you Bryony, I wouldn’t replace you or harm you for the world. I love you, you know that?”
“I know… I love you too Drake.”
“How about that other baby?”
